Description

Antique Pharmacy Scale, Wooden case, Civil War era.  Handheld balance scale in wooden case.  The strings for each scale pan are broken.  The metal locking clasp and hinges on the wooden case are still operational.
This was a working scale in use during the Civil War so there is damage to the wooden case and to the scale and its strings.  You can see damage in the photos.
The green felt cloth at the bottom of the case is also worn on the left side.
